Why join SIFE?

Homework… class… homework… class… work… homework…  nowadays, it seems that college students are busy with school and work all the time.  For the first three years at SMSU, that is how my schedule looked and then I decided I wanted to get involved with a campus club.   I thought to myself, “How do I decide on which campus club to join?”  Then, a representative from Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) came to my classroom and talked about all of the great things you can do when you join the team!  I was immediately hooked.

My schedule is still busy with school and work, but now I get to break up my day with different projects through SIFE.  One week, I could be talking to college students about getting financial freedom; another week, I could be dressing up as a clown to teach 2nd graders about reducing, reusing and recycling.  Well, what if you don’t like talking in front of people? (the number one fear of most people in the world)  That is ok.  We need people to write the curriculum, videotape, plan events, print T-shirts, write blogs, as well as numerous other things.  Whatever you might be interested in, SIFE can find something for you to work on and build strengths around; the organization is simply that versatile.

Think about what SIFE will do for your resume. Just having worked and taken classes will only get you so far.  What is going to set you apart from other applicants? This is where SIFE comes in – and you are going to make a difference in someone’s life!
