Personal Success is a category where we help students, adults and businesses enhance their individual and interpersonal skills. Our list of projects include:
Built 2 Serve: A project where we secret shop local business and evaluate their customer service skills. Then we invite the business owners to a seminar where we give them constructive feedback and teach them how to increase the business’s customer service levels. The end result is an increase in customer satisfaction and sales for that business.
Life Skills Workshop: With this project we visit local high school classrooms where we break the students into groups and they are individually instructed to create an object out of play doh. The students then pass their sculpture to their fellow students. The new student has to try and figure out what the object should be and continue to sculpt. Throughout this process SIFE teaches the students about the importance of communication, listening and group skills.
Unity in Diversity: We created a DVD that depicts a group of college students interacting in everyday conversation, but throughout the conversation they interject common offensive words. Students watching the DVD write down all the offensive words they hear. Then they talk about how these words, although they might not be offensive to the speaker, could be offensive to someone else.
This year we are planning to continue these great projects, but also find new areas where we can help individuals acquire the skills they need to succeed.
